We need to be clear which emotions are harmful and which are helpful; then cultivate those that are conducive to peace of mind. Often, due to a lack of knowledge, we accept anger and hatred as natural parts of our minds. This is an example of ignorance being the source of our problems. To reduce our destructive emotions we strengthen the positive ones; such emotional hygiene can contribute to a healthier society.

"It's not possible to have a problem without believing a prior thought. To notice this simple truth is the beginning of peace."

~ Byron Katie

"The highest form of human intelligence is the ability to observe yourself.”

~ Jiddu Krishnamurti

The saints say that if you coax God earnestly enough, you can see Him. But you have do it all yourself. Getaway from everyone. It is good for your health, your nerves, and your longevity not to mix too much with people. Most of them are thinking only of what you can give them. Hardly anyone thinks of your highest welfare except your spiritual teacher and God. The wise teacher will give you but one instruction: think of God. And share Him; there is no form of service greater than to speak of God.

~ Paramahansa Yogananda

When the rays of the sun are made to pass through a prism, they get dispersed and become separate owing to refraction. If each of these rays had consciousness, it would consider itself as being separate from the other rays, forgetting entirely that at source and on the other side of the prism it had no separate existence. In the same way, the One Being descends into the domain of maya and assumes a multiplicity which does not in fact exist. The separateness of individuals does not exist in reality but only in imagination.

~ Meher Baba

There is nothing outside that is not within you. This is something that should be remembered all of the time. You should always be aware of this. There is nothing out there that is not within here. If you understand this totally where do you have to go? Whom do you have to see? What do you have to read? What is there to do? You can simply sit and be the universe and bask in glory and total love, total joy.

~ Robert Adams
